Recovery and Salvage

With such a large portion of our world covered in water, and peoples natural inclination to be where the water is, it is far too often that things fall into the water that were never meant to be there. Be it your phone, your camera, a prosthetic leg, a prop, an anchor, a motor, or even your whole boat- Domestic Divers recovery team is here to help.

Despite the team being comprised of a mix of both staff and volunteers, there are still recovery charges for any recovery we provide, in order to cover the costs of training, equipment, travel, and if it is an urgent recovery, to help compensate them for their time.

While we will give every effort to recover your item, and are over 99% effective on paid recoveries, we can only be as effective as the information given to us. The underwater world does not play by our rules, and things may end up far from the location where they were lost.

BOLO

A simple “Be on the lookout,” this is the simplest method to get back things that you want without actually paying for a recovery. We will post any details you can provide, as well as any finders fee you wish to offer up, so that any diver who happens to be diving those waters may know what to keep an eye out for.

Commercial

A deliberate search for anything you may have lost. This is best for things that you need recovered, but that are not time sensitive.

$75 service charge per diver- This covers the time required for our divers to set up, inspect, tear down, and clean their gear before and after each dive.

$2 per mile for travel

$55 per man hour while on the water

Plus costs, which may include but are not limited to- equipment costs, consumables, and more.

Hazard charges may apply for extreme conditions, ie. cold, deep, or dangerous waters.

If you have a well marked location with good visibility, and a small item that can be lifted without extra equipment, you should expect to pay between $100-$150 for most local waters. Most phones, boat anchors, and things you can lift easily with one hand will fall into this category. Specialized lifts may increase dramatically and rapidly in costs.

Emergency

A deliberate search for anything you may have lost. This is for time sensitive and urgent items, including environmental concerns.
